Your employees must be a key component of your disaster recovery plan. Not only do employees need to know and understand the plan and their specific roles, they need review and practice the plan on an ongoing basis. Get your employees involved in the actual planning process. Enhance teamwork and create a safer workplace environment.
Designate one employee from each work shift as the safety coordinator.
Delegate all decisions relating to general safety and employee and customer safety to the safety coordinator.
Make sure your safety coordinator knows how to contact the owner or operator at all times.
Enroll your safety coordinator in Red Cross classes: Workplace Preparedness, First Aid and CPR
Train everyone in your facility to prepare for a disaster and what to do when a disaster occurs.
Encourage your employees to be prepared at home. Your employees won’t come into work if they have to take care or their families and homes.
